Whispers of Évora: Where Every Stone Tells a Story
Évora is a city of contrasts and treasures: monumental churches, medieval cathedrals, Roman ruins, magnificent tiles, unforgettable gastronomy, and wines that capture the essence of Alentejo. Yet beyond these remarkable sights lies a deeper story — one of royalty and ambition, of explorers charting the world from the decks of Portuguese caravels, of intrigues, plots, and even dark secrets hidden in the shadows of the city walls.
Évora is not just another city — it is a living story, where every street, palace, and hidden corner reveals the richness of its past. Guided by passionate storytellers, you will uncover the lives of kings and queens, the resilience of ordinary people, and the haunting beauty of a chapel built from human bones — a not-so-subtle reminder that nothing lasts forever.
Then, we meet Sofia, born and raised in Évora, a chef and storyteller herself. At her farm just beyond the historic walls, she will welcome you into her kitchen, sharing the secrets of Alentejo’s cuisine. Guests will help prepare a traditional meal, concluding with a dessert that celebrates the rhythms of the season. Throughout the experience, you will also taste Portuguese wines from Sofia’s own “adega”. Every ingredient and every glass tells a story, offering a true taste of Évora’s culture and heritage.
This is more than a walk, more than a meal. It is an invitation into the heart of Évora, where history, legend, and flavors come together to tell the story of a city that continues to enchant, inspire, and linger in memory.
Highlights of the Journey:
Chapel of Bones, São Francisco Church, Cathedral of Évora, Roman Temple, Misericórdia Church, Giraldo Square, Garden of the Royal Palace.
